Little People

 I am so glad that I pulled out our collection of Little People that the girls had in Louisiana. Little Man can spend hours playing with his Little People. He groups them into humans and animals. He puts them on the school bus, in the train, and on the castle. He loves to take the camels ( I have no idea why) and has them "gallop" on the playmat street. I just love watching his imagination run wild already and thankful we have something to do on a rainy day. As far as his other favorite past time of trying to stand on his head, I believe that he pick that up from Big Girl!

November already?

     I apologize for my lack of blogging. I have been trying to spend a little time off the computer to prepare for guests, parties, and the holidays but still wanted to share a few photos with you and to keep everyone up to date. So to the grandparents and the great uncles and aunts, I will try to update more often. 

     So Halloween has come and gone and it was a busy weekend indeed. Baby girl had a field trip that Friday and little man and I tagged along to the farm. Needless to say little man will probably not be invited back to the farm! There were many a pumpkin and chicken that felt the brunt of his wrath. That night we attended a party in our neighborhood where the girls did the limbo, played games, and decorated some mini pumpkins. Saturday we had the neighbors over in the afternoon for more pumpkin fun and pizza. Then the dads escorted the super heroes and witches for the first hour of trick or treating while the moms stayed behind to give out candy. While the kids came home for a quick bathroom break, moms and dads switched roles and during the last 30 minutes of trick or treating a terrific rainstorm got the moms and the kids completely soaked. I have to say as my little Supergirl tried to cover her head with her cape as we ran through the rain, she exclaimed that this was the best Halloween ever! I had to agree!

G is for glasses

Baby girl has been headaches on and off for a couple of years. About a month ago, we took her in for a complete examination, blood work, etc. Long story short, she suffers from allergies and also needed to get glasses. Yesterday was her first full day in the classroom with them, and they seem to be helping. She insisted I snap a couple photos of her to show everyone back home how cute her new Barbie glasses are!

At the Biltmore

The Biltmore was fantastic! Mom has wanted to go for years and after I did a little research, I could see why. The house and grounds were simply stunning. I was so proud of all 3 kids. They actually did the entire home tour as well as the grounds and the Riverbend farm. We were also in luck because they were decorating for Christmas and saw many of the rooms decorated. Sadly no photographs are allowed in the house, but I had a great time taking many shots outside.

Corn Maize 2009

Two hours and five minutes later, Nana, PawPaw the kids, and myself made it out under the Corn Maize. We were muddy and a little hungry (still waiting for my funnel cake!) but we had a great time. We were actually 4 minutes slower this year, so for 2010 we will try our hardest to get under the two hour mark.

Ikea & Grandfather Mountain

A few highlights from the first half of my parent's trip.

1. Ikea is impressive only if you have space to take purchases home with you on a plane or in your car.

2. Grandkids and grandparents scream loudly in public places when they see each other after a long absence. I so regret not taking pictures of the reunion the girls had with Nana and Paw Paw when we picked them up at school.

3. Negative 10 degrees is really, really cold.

4.  Bears are good mothers (don't ask.)

5. I love when my husband cooks for company. It gives me more time to visit:)

The Wedding

It has been a busy few weeks. We had both sets of grandparents and my brother-in-law come up to visit and experience fall and celebrate little man's birthday! I was also  able to fly home for my brother's wedding during all of the activity here. Needless to say I have hundreds of photos to sift through and more to take with Halloween activities kicking off this weekend. Enjoy the photos from the wedding. I will have more tomorrow!

Hey, It's a College Football Game

School is in full swing here and with the advent of school comes the influx of crud and gunk. The girls were sick for several days along with Dad, and then Little Man started sniffling as well. So mom has been holding down the fort while the family is on the mend. In between the sneezing, Hubby did take the girls to their first college football game. No it wasn't the game or the team he envisioned for his daughters, but they still had a great time. The crowd was very laid back and the girls really enjoyed meeting the mascot, copying the cheerleaders and yelling their hearts out! Hope you enjoy the photos, and for the record they are completely responsible for what they are wearing! 

Our new cousin has arrived!

Welcome little A! Your cousins, aunt and uncle can't wait to meet you! Congratulations to P and his lovely wife!  

Labor Day Campout

School is now in full swing, but this three day weekend has been in the makings for a very long time. Back in May, the neighbors got together and decided we would plan on doing something fun to mark the end of summer. So a tent was borrowed, hamburgers were made, and a pinata was broken to mark the first annual end of summer backyard camp out. The girls were up until about 11:30 when finally two moms went into the tent to get all the kids to go to sleep. Most of the adults made it until about 1:00 am, just talking and holding vigil to see if the girls would actually stay in the tent. Luckily, I didn't pull the short straw and was able to sleep on the couch while one mom slept in the tent with the kids. Big girl came in twice to go to the bathroom, but both times she ran straight back to the tent- there was no way she would admit defeat! The girls are so glad they camped the whole night, and we are already planning the second annual labor day campout for 2010!

First Day

Ah- except for the butterflies in baby girl's stomach, it was an excellent first day.  They have been getting "grace" for the first couple of days, so hopefully things will not take a turn next week.

Ask and ye Shall Receive

I know, long time no post. But with houseguests, the better half out of town, and school starting; I have found little time to log on to the computer. But after several "gentle" reminders that I needed to update the blog, I am getting back on track. Photos are from the trip back home and then the trip I went on with my BFF. Check back tomorrow for the back to school photos! Sorry to the family- I have been really busy!!!!

In Search of the Lost Sea

          Well if you haven't figured it out, this family has been on the road for the past few days. Leaving home base we spent two nights and three days on the road, enjoying being a little family of tourists. We "found" the Lost Sea, made fish faces at the Tennessee Aquarium, and swam until our hands and feet were all shriveled up in Birmingham. Next stop Louisiana!
