Summer begins!

The girls are officially done with school. We are so proud of how well they have adjusted to the big move and were genuinely surprised that they didn't want to have "off" this summer because they would miss their teachers and classmates. To ease the transition, we thought a nice lazy afternoon at the pool would get the girls in a summer state of mind. It worked like a charm. Now the kids are all sound asleep, and I'm sure they are dreaming of all the things we will discover  this summer. Check back. It is going to be a great 10 weeks!

Well hello little Nephew!

Now that Little Man is almost a toddler, the girls and I just can't wait to cuddle with little baby "A."  Everyone is doing great, and Little A has been an angel since he got home this afternoon. Aunt S, Uncle S, and K- we miss and love you so much!

Back Home Day 6

Last day of the big trip home. Mom and I went shopping for antiques and both of the items above are the ones that "got away." I desperately wanted the photos of Belle Helene, and she had her eye on the corner cabinet. Unfortunately the prints were too large for the suitcase, and a man bought the corner cabinet 5 minutes before Mom decided she wanted it. But we still have fun running around town anyway.
Then I had to have a photo with all the siblings- even if it meant going to Hooters to take a picture with my brother! Sunday morning I had coffee and beignets with Mom and Dad before the flight, and now I'm home with my wonderful husband and children. Hopefully all of us will get to go back to LA for a couple of weeks this summer!

Back home Day5

Day 5- Girls day. Lunch with a dear friend ( catfish, not crawfish this time). So glad I got to spend a couple of hours with Mrs. R and reminisce.  Then Mom, my sis and I ordered pizza and watched a movie. Tomorrow lots of Day 6 photos and final thoughts on the trip home.

Back Home Day 4

Good old day 4 was Crawfish day!  Crawfish Etouffee for lunch with my scrapbook buddies T & B. Then I had a little photo shoot with "Pissy" the newest niece in the family, and visited her Mom for a bit. Finally my Dad brought home some big, beautiful, and spicy crawfish which Mom and I devoured on the porch. We had leftovers and made a nice creole out of them for later.  All in all a great day, but I will be working out for weeks to get back to pre-trip status!

Back Home Day 3

What a day! Mom and I had a great time getting a manicure and pedicure, lunch, and a little shopping. Then it was time to see my niece graduate from high school. With 351 graduates it was standing room only in the stadium. Thankfully, we were in a great location to see her get her diploma. Notice before the ceremony that Super Uncle C came to the rescue and replaced a broken chair that would have been quite an embarrassment to some unlucky grad.
To top off the evening, we attended a LOST finale party after the ceremony. My family has been getting together for every episode since January. I always call in with my theories and here what they thought about each show, but last night I was there!  "Freckles" was a wonderful host, and Aunt W helped serve up some wonderful food from Hurley's kitchen. We yelled with anger, screamed with fright and one or two of us shed a tear. Thankfully Aunt B came to join us for the group photo and stuck around to watch! Overall, fantastic season finale and I was so fortunate to be in town to watch with the family. Love you all!!!!!!!

Back Home Day 1 & 2

Day 1 - Got pick up from the airport and went to the movies with Mom and Dad to see Star Trek. Great movie and such good company. Today Aunt G and I went and had lots of crawfish for lunch and antiquing. Then tonight we had a graduation party for my beautiful niece. I got to have lots of fun visiting with family and eating lots of great food. Mom and I are having a special day tomorrow, and then the Graduation Ceremony. Life is good!

Dance Recital and Presentation

Well, the kids and I made it through dance recital week. Since I took gymnastics, I was unaware of the costume changes, props, and all things associated with the "Recital." Thankfully, they have a wonderful dance teacher who really kept things to a minimum. The hardest part for me was doing all of this while hubby was away. That meant that Little Man had to tag along for all the errands, practices, and the big performance. So the result? A few blurry photos, snippets of the performances on video, and a fun memory of one crazy Friday. The girls also performed with their classmates. Baby Girl sang and recited verse; she is on the end wearing pink and yellow in the class photo. Big Girl was Florence Nightingale. She let me know that Nurse Nightingale took her job seriously so she refused to crack a smile.   While I was going through the halls with Little Man to quiet him down, I stumbled upon Big Girl's composition about Nana and PawPaw.  She did not even tell me she wrote it which made it even better when I found it- a wonderful little present on such an hectic day.
Dad will be home tomorrow so we will continue to hold the fort down until then. The girls had a mini slumber party last night in the playroom, so I have a feeling they will be pretty tired today. That will be a good thing, because Little Man got LOTS of sleep and has been going since 6:30 this morning!
