PSA

Just wanted to take this moment to announce that we are adding to the royal court. Prince Charming happens to be in a Mardi Gras Krewe with his best friend, and I completely took advantage of the situation by letting him know about the pregnancy via a florescent poster board and letter stickers! Needless to say, he was shocked, speechless, crying, and a wee bit tipsy but I succeeded in pulling off the ultimate surprise. A couple weeks later we were even more surprised to hear that our favorite Alabama couple are expecting a baby on the same day as the King and I! Now that I'm in the second trimester, I am feeling good and finally getting my energy levels up to normal. Hence the blog update. Hopefully I can use some of that energy to clean and photograph the redecorated rooms. I promise they look great!
And I do know that the mask is a bit creepy, but if he would have taken it off for the photo, he would have be fined, and let's face it we are going to need the money to buy diapers.

Renovations Part 1

When Spring arrives, I always seem to get the urge to do some home improvements, and this year was no exception. We have been in our house for a while and desperately needed new carpet so not only did we get carpet in the bedrooms, but we also put down a laminate floor in the office/ scraproom. Since we had a week to clear out the small to medium things in four rooms, I thought it would be a great idea to go ahead and paint as well. For our bedroom I wanted to get rid of the brown walls and do this beautiful aqua color and create a "Maui Escape." After buying three gallons of ocean mist and painting the entire room I was reduced to tears and a reply from my husband that he was afraid to tell me that he hated it! Back to the paint store the next day. We came home with a quart of Acorn. Then I hated it. After a couple of hours of silence and dirty looks, we went back to the paint store and came back with two shades of brown. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I don't have any nightmares or hospital green or bright orange.

Here is a project for my latest class at the LSS. Clock base is from Creative Imaginations and transparency was created using Word Art and Text boxes. Super easy, but if you don't have a wide format printer, it can't be done. This is a Mother's Day present for my Mother-in-law, so I hope she is not peeking on the blog or I will have to give it to her early! It's been a couple of months since my last project, and this was a fun project to get me back in the mood. I will also do one for my mom, but waiting on the right pictures for it.

Taking Care of Business

Here is a little sneak peek of my latest layout for the sketch class at my LSS (local Scrapbook store). After a l-o-n-g break from scrapbooking I have spent the past few days trying to get back into the swing of things. Still working on my handouts for class and a little sketchbook we will create. Back to work.

Oh Oscar!

007 and I have this deal. We made the deal in 1998, and he has faithfully kept his side of the bargain every year. Oscar night the roles get reversed. I watch the Oscars uninterrupted and he has to cook dinner. Dinner is always some type of Thai food. Now the first year we did this, 007 invited a friend over to keep him company in the kitchen while I watch all of the pre-Oscar shows. Then the Oscars started and the curry was still in its infancy. Finally at around 10:30 MST, or just before the award for best picture was given out, the three of us sat down to eat. I have to say that after nine tries, he finally got the timing right. We enjoyed a lovely chicken satay appetizer and beef curry right after the first commercial break- a first for us. As far as the Oscars themselves, I fought to stay awake until they were over. A tad on the slow side, but I refused to give up the remote until the credits rolled. Now if I could only get him to cook Thai for the Superbowl, then I could enjoy it twice a year!

Happy Mardi Gras!

Here is just a shot of Zorro and I at a Mardi Gras Ball last weekend. We have been to this parade and ball several times with our friends, but this year my guy actually joined the Crewe and rode in the parade. I don't even want to know how much he spent on all his throws! I can't even express to you now how special the weekend was for the two of us, hopefully I give the full run down in a few weeks!
I have been also praying for a safe and successful Mardi Gras in the Big Easy today. I have so many wonderful memories all over the South celebrating Fat Tuesday, but this year, I just want things there to be magical.

And we're back!

I have no excuses. I've just been spending my time doing other useful things like celebrating Christmas, prepping for classes, decluttering, and trying to be a good wife and mother. This was strictly a test to see if I could actually remember my password and user name. I'll try to do better tomorrow. And that's a promise.
