School bus, Slumber party and Sea Monkeys

     Awesome Friday for the girls. First up, Baby Girl is riding a school bus for the first time to watch a children's play. She was so excited that she forgot about show and tell. The good news is that nearly all the classmates forgot about show and tell. Big girl has her first slumber party tonight with her new classmates. I think I was in second grade when I went to my first one as well. I am kind of freaking out. First slumber parties, then make-up, driver's license, dating. . .  I can't believe they are growing up so fast. Lastly, baby girl got Sea Monkeys for her birthday.  I remember wanting Sea Monkeys as a kid, but growing up with all kinds of other critters in the back yard like crawfish, frogs, and fish in the bayou, Sea Monkeys were a bit pedestrian. So yesterday we started the great Sea Monkey experiment. We get to add the "eggs" in tonight so hopefully we will have a great photos with the Macro lens in the coming days. Don't worry dear blog readers, I'll be sure to post photos of my little monkeys too. Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Hale-Dog!

I can't believe she is eighteen!!! Miss you so, so very much. I still have your bed set up in the green room ready for your next visit. Seriously, my life would be incomplete without you in it. I Love You.

Post 101 Recap

Oh blog readers, forgive me for being so negligent in updating the blog, but my subsequent trips back home have me gotten me out of the blogging habit. That and sick kids and snow days. But I digress. Here is the run down from last week. It was a big one.  

     SNOW DAY on Tuesday, so no school. We also have almost no snow. Big girl tried to go sledding in the backyard, but she ended up using mulch and gravity to propel herself forward instead of the snow. Oh well, they are predicting snow later this week, but I won't be holding my breath.

      PINK EYE and DANCE class- First dance class. The girls loved it. Then straight to the Doctor's office to get medication for conjunctivitis and an ear infection for baby girl. The good news is that Little Man has remained white eyed and full of energy. Bad news is Big girl is sitting next to me right now with pink eyes and an ear infection. I am wondering if it is too late to go to nursing school. . .

    BABY GIRL is SIX!! Baby girl turned six on Friday. We had a low key party (remember she was sick) and for lunch Grandma and Peeps took her to Punchy's Diner to eat a lot of fried food. That is where the lovely photo of my daughter and her well-endowed friend was taken. My girls pass by Punchy's Diner/ gas station four times a day and every time we pass, they beg to stop and eat. I am just so very grateful that the grandparents took them before they flew home on Saturday. We all miss you terribly. 

   That's it folks. As far as the title for this entry, I realized that this is officially my 101 post. Not bad considering I have fallen of the proverbial blog wagon a few times. Here's to at least 100 more in 2009!

  

Southern Girls Gone Wild

Back home from Louisiana after teaching scrapbook classes. 175 ladies in a large ballroom with scissors, photos and adhesive- good crazy fun. My best friend B and I have been doing this almost since the beginning and we just have a blast. The theme this year was Mardi Gras so of course we crowned ourselves the Queens of the crop. We only participated in the first day, but got lots of layouts done and had time to have lunch and dinner with our families. It was one of the best crops ever. A huge thank you to BFF who drove a total of 8 hours of time back and forth to the airport and another 9 hours back and forth to Louisiana. There is NO WAY I could have made a second trip this month to the bayou without you- More cowbell indeed! Only one suitcase left to unpack, and then I need to make sure the camera is charged because snow is heading our way tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed that school will be cancelled and that I don't have to drive in it:) Thanks for sending the photo Darlene.

Park Play

Good Morning All,

   Well the old camera didn't do half bad at the park on Saturday. We had a great time running around trying to stay warm.  Little man was all over the place- tunnel, swings, stairs, and the slide with big sister. We enjoyed it, because it is going to get cold here in the next few days. By the end of the week it is  suppose to be in the teens with no chance of snow. Honestly, if it is going to be that cold can't we just have a little white stuff so my kids can play in it for the first time? Have a great week. I will be going back to Louisiana on Thursday so I'll try to post from there.

Christmas Part 2

 At mom's house on Christmas Eve my camera took a turn for the worst. I was only able to take a few photos at all of our Christmas stops. So no group photos of the family, no Christmas lights or close-ups of pretty decorations.  I will have to send off the lens and camera body this week to get fix, so my plan is to dust off the old Rebel that my hubby insisted I keep in case something like that happened. Our New Years Eve and day was spent recuperating on the couch watching college football and washing clothes. And on that note, thank you Tigers for a wonderful finish. I am so ready for next year!  The tree is down and the Mardi Gras decorations are up, although we are probably the only house in our neighborhood sporting purple, gold, and green. Wish us luck. The girls want to take the wagon out and throw beads at all the children, so I'll let you know if they actually talk me into it.

Christmas Part 1

 We are settling back into our routine after our trip home for Christmas. All of us have been pretty sick and I have been a bit overwhelmed with clothes, sickness, presents, preparing for another trip, etc.  Here are a few shots of the extended family at our Christmas party. We have been playing white elephant for several years and the "presents" get worse and worse. This year was really bad. But that's why I love my family. We just like to get together, even if we are exchanging previously viewed DVD's or knife blocks with no knives. It's good clean fun and the wine was a nice addition to the party (Thanks S and G)! The bottom photo is the family at the hotel. It was our home away from home for 10 nights, and this is where we spent our Christmas morning opening presents and eating at the breakfast buffet.
